Taberik Group — Zhanygul Omurkanova
A 6-artisan felt-making group in Zhenish village, Jeti-Oguz district. Specialises in shyrdaks, embroidered panels and hands-on master classes.
The Taberik group, founded by Zhanygul Omurkanova in the village of Zhenish (Jeti-Oguz district, Issyk-Kul region), brings together six village artisans who specialise in traditional Kyrgyz felt work. Their workshop produces shyrdaks (the iconic stitched-felt rug of Central Asia), decorative wall panels, cushions and floor coverings — all using locally-shorn sheep wool. Beyond production, Taberik is one of EcoNomad’s preferred partners for hands-on master-class experiences, where travelers spend half a day learning to roll wool, lay out patterns and stitch their own small piece. The group works with Ethno Mir Point and the Dairy marketing centre for international exports.
