Kelechek Sary Kol Foundation

Silk craftsmanship / Silk weaving · Traditional musical instrument making

Inclusive workshop in Mikhailovka village (Tyup district), employing artisans with disabilities to produce felt slippers, valenki boots and toys.

Kelechek Sary-Kol (literally ‘Future of Issyk-Kul’) is a public foundation in the village of Mikhailovka in the Tyup district at the eastern end of Issyk-Kul Lake. Founded by Sonun Boronchieva, the foundation runs an inclusive felt workshop employing three artisans with physical disabilities, producing traditional felt slippers, valenki winter boots and felt toys. The foundation’s mission combines economic inclusion with the preservation of Kyrgyz felt traditions; its products are exported through Ethno Mir Point and the Dairy network, and EcoNomad arranges workshop visits as part of its Issyk-Kul circuits — a meaningful detour from the standard tourist trail.
