Muras Felt Group — Zhibergul Akunova
4-artisan felt workshop in Saruu village (Jeti-Oguz district, Issyk-Kul region) — embroidered panels, shyrdaks and master classes.
The Muras group, led by Zhibergul Akunova, is a small-scale felt workshop in the village of Saruu in the Jeti-Oguz district. Four artisans produce a range of traditional felt items — shyrdaks, doormats, cushions, embroidered wall panels — using locally-shorn sheep wool and natural dyes. Like its neighbour the Taberik group, Muras is one of EcoNomad’s preferred partners for short hands-on master classes where guests learn to lay out and stitch a simple felt motif under the guidance of the artisans.
