Khiva

Khiva is the most complete walled medieval city in Central Asia. The fortified inner town of Itchan-Kala, surrounded by 10-metre-high mud-brick walls, contains over 50 historic monuments and 250 traditional houses dating back to the 17th century — minarets, palaces, mausoleums and madrasas of the Khanate of Khiva. UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site in 1990.
